Conditions Treated
Oriental medicine is a very comprehensive system of medicine. It works with your body to produce true healing instead of suppressing symptoms. A few of the conditions successfully treated by acupuncture and Oriental medicine are:

General:
  • Women’s issues, including painful periods, menopause, and other gynecological issues. These are treated without requiring uncomfortable examinations.
  • Chronic pain, especially joint and muscle pain, arthritis, as well as headaches and other discomforts.
  • Fatigue, including chronic fatigue syndrome, or a general feeling of being down.
  • Most conditions that respond to drug treatment, respond even better to acupuncture and Chinese herbs - without side effects. However, we insist on partnering with your doctor to determine a proper course of treatment. Some medications need special care and planning.
  • Most chronic conditions such as allergies, asthma, and more respond extremely well to acupuncture.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture - Acupuncture Facelift

Erase years from your face- safely, painlessly, and without surgery or injected poisons. Facial acupuncture is a natural way to look and feel younger.

When you can enhance your whole self and look younger with acupuncture, there is no need to paralyze muscles.  This non-toxic, health-promoting method uses the time-tested methods of Acupuncture and Chinese herbs to erase years from your face. The Acupuncture Facelift is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help your whole body look and feel younger.

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a full body, constitutional treatment that also affects facial appearance by including facial acupuncture and facial massage. When the face is needled, there is an increase in circulation of blood, lymph and Qi to the face that stimulates collagen and elastin production and creates a radiance and glow to the skin. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a virtually painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process. It helps the whole body look and feel younger by addressing the physical, mental and emotional patterns that cause disease and contribute to the aging process.

Why choose this over surgery or botox?
Acupuncture is a less expensive, non-invasive and holistic alternative to botox or cosmetic surgery. The results from facial rejuvenation acupuncture (FRA) are more gradual, not an over-night transformation like surgery or botox. If you wanted to reshape the structure of your face, cosmetic surgery would be a better choice. There are no side effects or recovery time with FRA, and it promotes a general sense of well being and self-worth.

What are the benefits?
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture has both constitutional benefits as well as local facial benefits.

Some possible local benefits of the face:

Reduction or elimination of fine lines and wrinkles
Improves hormonal acne
Decreased puffiness in face
Brightens the eyes
Reduction of sagging of jowls and double chins
Reduces stress evident in the face
Diminished bags under the eyes
Improves facial color
Lifting of drooping eyelids, and brow lines
Increase in collagen production
Improved muscle tone and dermal contraction
Improves local blood and lymph circulation and moistens the skin
Tighter pores

Some possible constitutional benefits:

Increased energy
Better quality of sleep
Improved digestion and metabolism
Strengthened immune system
Relief from chronic or recurring pain
Reduction in PMS or menopausal symptoms
Helps sinus congestion and headache
Helps depression

Are there any Contra-indications?
Yes. It is contraindicated if you are pregnant, are HIV positive or have AIDS, cancer, hepatitis, severe migraines, high blood pressure, if you have a cold or flu, are having an acute herpes outbreak, or an acute allergic reaction.
If you have had laser resurfacing on the face, a chemical peel, or microdermabrasion it takes 2-3 weeks of recovery time. During this time, refrain from facial rejuvenation acupuncture.

How many treatments do I need?
It is recommended to have between 12-15 treatments, one to (preferably) two times per week for 90 minutes per treatment to attain sustainable results. After the first treatment, you may notice a feeling of tightening of the skin, a glow to the complexion, and clarity in the eyes. Many patients are also either very relaxed, or rejuvenated by the treatment.
Patients usually notice a significant change by around the seventh treatment, in both their appearance as well as in their body. By the end of the series, you should look and feel 5-15 years younger. This also depends on how well you took care of yourself during and after the treatments (healthy lifestyle, eating right, not smoking, etc).
Maintenance treatments are then recommended every 2 weeks for 2 months following the treatment series, then once a month, or seasonally to prolong the effects of the acupuncture.
Of course a patient can decide to go through another treatment series when they feel necessary.
